Surfactant CEOR Project

One programme hub.
Four studies, two calculators.

A hub for chemical EOR research in high-temperature, high-salinity carbonate reservoirs. It links interactive reports on capillary desaturation, retention screening, screening economics and viscoelastic polymer flooding, and each page states its own records and status.

The task

Project requirements.

Capillary desaturation, retention screening and economics examine different parts of the same research programme. Readers need a clear route between them, and each study has to state its own records and status.

The outcome

What exists now.

Four interactive reports and two calculators are live and linked from the hub. Its background section includes a draggable cross-section of a chemical slug train and a live calculation of capillary pressure and capillary number. Imad A. Adel prepared the hub and each report.

Inside the programme

What each report computes.

01

Capillary desaturation

Capillary desaturation curves, critical trapping numbers and field-rate screening for mixed-to-oil-wet carbonate cores, on SAMPLE records.

Under review at Geoenergy Science and Engineering; preprint on SSRN.

Open report
02

Retention screening

Scales laboratory recovery to field incremental recovery, prices the surfactant retained on the rock per incremental barrel and tests that cost against a retention budget, on SAMPLE inputs.

Manuscript prepared; pending review.

Open report
03

Retention economics

A discounted-cash-flow model that turns surfactant dynamic retention into net present value, rate of return, unit technical cost and breakeven retention, on a SAMPLE base case.

Under review at Petroleum Research.

04

Viscoelastic polymer flooding

A criteria-screened synthesis of published viscoelastic-polymer coreflood evidence for residual-oil desaturation, which recomputes the classifier and estimator statistics live from the 49-contrast dataset.

In preparation; the page is a synthesis of published evidence.

The SAMPLE records reach the same screening conclusions as the manuscripts with different values; the measured programme records are not published here. No manuscripts, supporting data files or presentation decks are distributed.

A research programme, shown here as research, not as studio client work. Maintained by Imad A. Adel in a personal capacity; not an official website of any institution or funder.

Inspect one result

Change one input and follow the gate.

Open the retention-screening report and move the dynamic retention slider. The retention-cost gate, the unit technical cost stack and the two retention-cost maps recompute on every edit. Export scenario saves all inputs and computed outputs as a text file.

The report opens on a SAMPLE base case, and any value you enter replaces it. This route describes how to inspect the existing tool; it does not reproduce the measured programme records.
